This position will require you to conduct, with minimum supervision, chemical analysis of raw materials and finished products in accordance with current compendial and in-house procedures to meet domestic and foreign regulatory requirements, as well as Canadian Analytical Laboratories Inc. standards

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Physical testing of raw materials and finished products such as description, weight variation, pH, specific gravity, refractive index, disintegration, and dissolution testing
• Chemical testing of raw material and finished products using specific spectroscopic techniques such as UV, IR, AA, and ICP
• Responsible for the entire analytical process, from sample preparation through data analysis and reporting using state-of-the-art analytical equipment such as ICP and /or ICP-MS.
• Perform sample preparation by various techniques and analysis following regulatory methods (i.e. EPA, ASTM, USP, and/or FDA)
• Perform testing related to method validation, method transfer and method development
• Assist in the calibration of equipment used in the Chemistry Laboratory
• Prepare, with proper documentation, of all volumetric and test solutions used in the Chemistry laboratory
• Ensure proper disposal of all chemical wastes
• Assist in the investigation of Out-Of-Specification test results and root cause assessment
• Assist in the training and/or cross-training of newly employed or less experienced Chemists
• Assist in the ordering and maintenance of the laboratory’s supplies such as reagents, solvents, and standards
• Perform all other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma or degree in the scientific field or equivalent
• Minimum 1- 3-year experience with ICP and /or ICP-MS in a commercial laboratory setting
• Knowledge of basic chemical concepts, computer systems, and software applications
• Familiarity with ICP-MS interference reduction technologies and Agilent software/instrumentation is a big plus.
• Proven ability to work in a safe manner and maintaining a clean and organized work environment
• Ability to prepare, interpret and generate routine test reports in a timely manner and in accordance with internal and regulatory guidelines to meet datelines
